The
Innovation Awards have been presented every year at inhorgenta europe since the year 2000. This award annually honors
talented young jewelry designers who exhibit at inhorgenta europe
and convince an international jury of experts of their creativity. In honor of
the tenth anniversary of the awards a virtual “Hall of Fame” will be created at
the inhorgenta europe website (www.inhorgenta.com). This interesting
“online exhibition” will be launched at the beginning of November 2009, and
will present the award-winning pieces by all jewelry designers who have been
honored with an award in the last ten years. The exhibit will also include a
short statement about their creation by each Innovation Award winner, as well
as contact information and a photo of the artist.
The
Innovation Award has become known as one of the most important jewelry design
awards in the world – it is extremely popular and coveted among young artists.
“Thanks to the award my work suddenly gained a lot of attention – and this was
very helpful for my ensuing professional career,” remembers Tanja Gallas, today
a successful jewelry designer in Berlin,
who was honored for her collection “Cocoon”, one of the first winners of the
Innovation Award in 2000. Other members of the first generation of award
winners include the jewelry artists Alexandra Bahlmann, Christine Eberhart, and
Kay Eppi Nölke. Christine Eberhard, who received an award for her ‘Perlenblume’
(‘Pearl Flower’), an original creation made of moonstone, silver, gold, and
pearls, agrees that the award is very important to young artists: “It was great
to have my work validated by jewelry professionals, followed by publication in the
media, and purchases by museums and private buyers.” Since then, she and her
year 2000 co-winners have been loyal supporters of inhorgenta europe
either as visitors or exhibitors.
In 2006
followed the first Innovation Award for silver – the first winner, Rembrand
Jordan from Amsterdam, recalls: “The Innovation Award was a very important
award for me. Today I successfully manage my own workshop and gallery – and I
even met my distribution partners for Germany at inhorgenta.” The most
recent new category, “Platinum”, was added in 2008. Susanna Loew, the first
Platinum honoree, comments: “Winning the Innovation Award was a true highlight
for me. Thanks to the fantastic PR work
by the Platinum Guild and the unique style of my platinum collier ‘Stella’ made
of hand-pleated fine platinum spheres I have attracted a lot of attention
throughout the industry. In addition, the well-known ‘Marzee Collection’
purchased the collier material. And I exhibit every year at inhorgenta; it is
an absolute must for me.”
At inhorgenta
europe 2010, held from February 19th to 22nd, 2010 in
Munich, the most creative jewelry will once again be honored with awards in the
categories “Modern Jewelry Design”, “Modern Silverware Design – Special Silver
Award”, as well as “Modern Platinum Jewelry Design”. Furthermore, designer
jewelry exhibitors will benefit from a new hall concept. In the center of the
designated hall C2 there will also be a new “Market Place” offering an
opportunity for lively conversation and meetings between exhibitors and
visitors. For more information on the Innovation Awards, please call +49 (0) 89-949
